Our Mission
Fusion Star Project is dedicated to providing comprehensive, science-based energy education through multiple channels including websites, books, podcasts, op-eds, YouTube content, and school curriculum development.
We focus on grid stabilization, starting with natural gas turbines and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), progressing to Thorium SMRs, and ultimately working toward scalable nuclear fusion.
Our approach is politically neutral and science-based, examining what works and what doesn’t in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions.
Our Vision
We envision a future where carbon-free, widely available energy is accessible to all within 1-2 generations. Our goal is to bridge current energy grids with natural gas for maximum energy per CO2 emissions while transitioning to cleaner solutions.
We explain how green power can supplement stable grids and advocate for the integration of renewable energy sources with reliable baseload power.
Through education and advocacy, we’re working toward a sustainable energy future that benefits all of humanity.
Through a remarkable convergence of cosmic, planetary, geological, and biological events-each extraordinarily rare in the vastness of the universe-Earth was gifted with immense reservoirs of coal, oil, and natural gas long before the emergence of humanity. It was this accessible, dense, and abundant (yet finite) energy inheritance that empowered our species to transcend biological limits and build the technological civilization we enjoy today. Precisely because this energetic endowment is so improbable on a galactic scale, we may well be among the very few-or perhaps the only-advanced technological civilization in the Milky Way. Terry M. Adair, DDS
About the Founder
Terry M. Adair, DDS is the founder of the Fusion Star Project. He is a clinician, researcher, and writer with a long-standing interest in the intersection of energy, science, and human civilization.
Dr. Adair earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1987. He practiced general dentistry in Sacramento, California for over two decades before returning to academia in 2017. He completed advanced specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of Florida, where he served as Chief Resident. He continues to work in diagnostic imaging, applying a disciplined, evidence-based approach to complex problem-solving.
The Fusion Star Project emerged from Dr. Adair’s interdisciplinary research in planetary science, biology, thermodynamics, and energy systems-particularly the role of dense, transportable energy in enabling technological civilization. His work challenges simplified narratives surrounding energy transitions and emphasizes physical constraints, grid stability, and long-term scalability as essential to humanity’s future.
As founder, Dr. Adair established Fusion Star Project as a politically neutral, science-based educational initiative dedicated to improving public understanding of energy systems—from natural gas and advanced nuclear technologies to the long-term promise of nuclear fusion. The organization’s mission reflects his belief that reliable energy access is fundamental to human flourishing, global development, and future exploration beyond Earth.
Dr. Adair resides in Incline Village, Nevada, near Lake Tahoe. He enjoys endurance sports and outdoor pursuits, and is the father of four adult children.
